NODO Restaurant kicks up the Junction
It was a Saturday night just shy of 8pm, we decided to try out a new restaurant in the Junction. Michelle saved us a table in the center of the restaurant. The place was packed with a 20-30 min wait list for a table but we got the last table for 4 people.
To kick start our palettes, salted steamed white beans were served with warm bread injected with olives & peppers. Our meal started with OLIVE CALDE E NODINI spicy, warm olives and soft, toasted bread knots, garlic ….and the SPIDUCCI D’AGNELLO fresh, ontario lamb skewers, ‘gremolada’ …the lamb was tasty but instead of serving 3 skinny sticks, 2 more meatier sticks would have been better as “Derpy-Magic-Karp” struggled removing the meat.
For our mains BEEF /// COSTOLE BRASATE
braised beef short rib, spring onion, ‘salsa
arrosto’:: “Derpy” says “they’re AMAZING, fantastic, flavourful, the sauce was tasty & presentation was nice”
Gnocchi w wild boar ragu, truffle oil, reggiano
“Garfield” says “delicious, the boar was awesome, presentation was nice. Best gnocchi she’s EVER had!” The meat was tender and juicy. The Gnocchi was soft and had the perfect amount of truffle oil. *note: this was inhaled in minutes
FRITTO MISTO GAMBERI E CALAMARI
crispy dry-rub shrimp and calamari fritto,
‘quattro stagione’ sauce
“Derpy” had never tried calamari before until he tried THIS calamari and says the next time we go back to NODO, he’s having the calamari. It is now his calamari standard. It was perfectly cooked. Not greasy, not chewy or rubbery and very flavourful or “fishy” as he had thought.
For dessert we shared the Gelato trio which were vanilla, peach & pistachio flavoured & SOMEBODY inhaled the Cannoli which was very yummy.
